| STATUS: Completed February 23, 2023. NOTES: Decided on Feb 7, 2023 to write this within the next 7 days, in time for Valentine's Day on Feb 14, 2023. In that timeframe, only the first verse and the chorus were ready for prime time. I was kind of quiet singing in the first recording. Paula was around so I didn't want to be too loud. All in all, this was a pretty quick turn-around for me. From concept to finished, 16 days. Much better than my usual 50+ years. I guess that's what love will do to you. Of course, the final recording is far from perfect, but I'm still considering it done... at least for now. BACK STORY: Yeah, pretty much all a true story. Early in the semester, I met her in the laundromat. I did introduce myself, probably said something stupid and she wasn't too enthralled with me. And she was also hiding her underwear from my sight. I finished my laundry, and right afterwards came across her again in the next door grocery store. She was looking for something like a frozen pie to eat. I suggested we get something to eat at the Mexican restaurant "right down the street" and she thought, yeah, sure why not get a free meal. We drove there separately. She wasn't getting in a car with this creepy stranger. The spicy Mexican food did make my head itch and it was a topic of our conversation. And that was it... we studied a lot together the rest of the semester and that had a lot to do with me getting an "A" in Organic Chemistry. We married, then graduated and moved to Kentucky for 3 years, then to Georgia expecting to be there 3-4 years. A few years later we added our "Three" and today, still in Georgia, I'm the only one without a Ph.D. Oh, and you could google it, but the Little Apple, is Manhattan, Kansas, and it is a great town on the tallgrass prairie in the Kansas Flint Hills. AUDIO RECORDINGS: No fancy equipment or editing. You may hear our Mickey Mouse wall clock ticking in the background. These recordings are chock-full of mistakes in singing, lyrics and guitar playing. They aren't meant for the top 40 list. But they should give someone an idea of how I intended the song to sound. I will continue trying to get the "perfect" recording, but don't hold your breath too long waiting. | ||
